What is Pickleball and How to Play?

Pickleball is the latest racquet sport trend to hit the nation where you face your opponent in a tennis-like rally competition. The differences between the two are mainly the equipment. Pickleball rackets are flat, solid, paddles while tennis rackets are netted. The ball used in pickleball is a perforated, plastic ball and much lighter than a tennis ball. The pickleball court is also much smaller than a tennis court.

You play by first serving the ball to your opponent (underhand serve) while standing behind the outermost line. The ball must cross the net and bounce on the ground, outside of the no volley zone (or the kitchen) on the opposite half of the court that you served from. Your opponent returns the ball where it must cross the net and bounce before you can return it to them. Only the serving team can score points and the serve will pass to the other team after a fault.

The first team to 11 points by a 2 point lead is the victor.
